If you are one of the few people who haven’t yet seen the new Top Gun Maverick movie, go see it in a high-quality theater! I’m heading out to see it again with my son on Father’s Day today after enjoying it on Memorial Day weekend with 17,000 watts of sound in Dolby ATMOS. After being stuck at home watching movies in standard surround for the past few years, this film really shines and brings to life some of the work we do to help train pilots and aviators here at InnovaSystems.
In early 2019, we flew a small team from the SHARP program on a C-2 Greyhound to trap (land) on the Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier to design our new aircraft landings module called IPARTS and then catapult them safely back home. While they were on board observing nearly 100 carrier landings from the Landing Safety Officer (LSO) platform, Jodee Page and Pete Hunt caught a glimpse of Tom Cruise filming Maverick, took some great photos and recorded his heartfelt speech to the crew of the USS TR. Read more about this visit and what our IPARTS program does in Mark Burgunder’s Pulse post here.
Paramount put out this 3-minute clip labeled “the most intensive film training ever” that shows how Tom and the other actors trained for the movie with a 3-month program of jet fighter flights, catapults, underwater safety and more. This is a small glimpse into the intensive training that our navy pilots endure in their Training and Readiness Matrix using T-SHARP in flight school and SHARP at their aircraft squadrons. We’re proud to play a part in training our brave pilots and aircrew and are hopeful that this new movie will help the Navy recruit candidates as well as the original Top Gun movie did in the late 80’s.
We are also setting up a new Corporate Key Result (CKR) in T2 to assure that most of our product team members get an opportunity to get out to the field to observe our programs in action. User eXperience (UX) has been a key differentiator to Innova’s success for over 25 years by helping our developers gain subject matter expertise directly from our users and we are striving to continue our unique approach to conducting user research into the future.
